Harbourside Market and New Shop!

Yesterday Bristol St Vintage took part in the Harbourside Market for the first time and it went really well! The weather was obviously glorious and the footfall was incredible due to the good weather and the Veg Fest on at the amphitheatre.

The windiest yet sunniest day of the year!

I also launched the new Bristol St Vintage shop on Friday, it can be found here  and within the next 48 hours will hopefully be up and running!

Its feels so satisfying to have months of hard work turn into reality!

Lookbook S/S 2012

Over the weekend we shot all of the stock for the new shop and a look book for 'Bristol St Vintage'.
I thought for the first look book is would be nice to play on the Bristol aspect of 'Bristol St Vintage' and we shot some pictures around the docks of the city. Here is a little peak!

Chloe wears:
Original 1950's Letterman Jacket by Lowe and Campbell
1950's/1960's Blouse
1980's Tartan Skirt
1960's Suitcase
These will be available very soon!

So it looks like I'm getting there with stock and equipment to launch the shop next week! Here's a small sample of what I will be offering!

Getting ready for summer (if it ever comes!)
Over the weekend I will be shooting all the items on my model and putting a lookbook together. Over the next week I'll be working hard sorting out swing tickets, adding items to the shop and relaunching as 'Bristol St Vintage'

Stay posted!

Ashton Gate Flea and Vintage Market - Bex Vintage and Rare and Racy

Yesterday I went to check out the Flea and Vintage Market at Ashton Gate. The market took up the whole Exhibition Hall and has so many different types of items. There was one stall just selling records and had an old record player playing some songs which was a great accompaniment looking around the market!

Two stalls that I really liked were Bex Vintage and Rare and Racy.

Rebecca from Bex Vintage ( kindly let me snap her stall which was FULL of great vintage items including an amazing mustard 1950's gown and flapper 1920's coat! She was also great at handing out the biscuits to keep my son entertained!

1920's Coat

Also got chatting to Charlie from Rare and Racy - Vintage China, who was kindly giving me advice even though she had lost her voice! The stall was so pretty! Really nicely laid out with special teacup sets and plates.

On the way out I also spotted this -

1970's Dress and 1980's Jacket

2 new items this week! Turquoise mid length dress from the 1970's with matching belt, I love the colour and pleats are around a lot at the moment!

Pronuptia de Paris Dress

The next was a white with black trim short sleeved jacket from 1980's, excellent condition and very versatile!

Finally, my first attempt to upcycle something is complete! I took an XL Men's Shirt from Gap, chopped the sleeves off and hemmed them, Took the sides in majorly, added lace to the collar and finally added elastic around the middle to create a waist. About a size 12 I think!

Heading to the Vintage Fair at Ashton Gate tomorrow, should be good!

Upcycling and The Time Machine

St Vintage's mantra of sustainable fashion definitely has to be 'Waste Not Want Not' so i'm currently attempting to upcycle an old Gap shirt I got from the Bristol Free Shop (which I love! - I've managed to find Topshop, Primark, Gap and TM Lewin labels in there)

This is what I've done so far! Still want to add some elastic to make it more of a dress and maybe do something to the sleeves?

H. G. Wells' The Time Machine (1960 not 2002!) was on recently, it's such a film of my childhood! The costumes of the Eoli caught my eye this time and made me think of the S/S 2012 trend of pastel colours

Airstream Europe - A Vintage Holiday

At the moment I'm reading 'Green is the New Black' by Tamsin Blanchard, which covers all aspects of living a bit greener, she even covers holiday destinations! BelRepayre Airstream and Retro Trailerpark caught my eye and the images on their website look amazing.
Based in Southern France, this trailer park is a bit different than average; each trailer is a converted vintage Airstream trailer with its own theme! The Apollo Lounge is the onsite bar which is also a converted Airstream Trailer - very cool

I want to go on holiday now!
