Maxi Split Skirt and Repairing Clothing

Even though I have vowed not to buy any new clothing this year and I love vintage, I always like to get inspiration from online shops such as Urban Outfitters, Topshop and New Look- Just to get a feel for what is on the high street at the moment.

I've seen maxi skirts with splits up the side have become popular and thought id have a go at making my own! I had some black t-shirt material left over from some tops i made last year and a thick black strip of elastic that was for a skirt I didn't end up making! ( I always seem to buy things for projects which I don't complete - I want to change that this year!)

I'm not an amazing seamstress so I could have probably done this a better way, but here's a sketch of what I did! I hope you can understand it!

I also took the opportunity to fix the pockets of my favourite coat. This was so simple and as it's hidden away it doesn't have to be very neat! No more loose change rolling around in my seams! Hallelujah!

I also sent Jessica Hart some tops (destined for the charity shop) for her upcoming upcycling collection and I'll be sharing some images from the shoot here soon! Can't wait to see those beautiful creations!

My new years resolution is not just about what I consume but also how I dispose of my clothes! So nice seeing them go to good use!
